One camp reads Spinoza's metaphysics as undermining or even debunking ethics as based on illusions, for example, the belief in free will. Spinoza’s Ethics is a wide-ranging treatise that touches on almost every major area of philosophy: metaphysics, theory of knowledge, philosophy of mind, philosophical psychology, moral philosophy, political philosophy, and the philosophy of religion.
